SILENCE

A philosopher came to Buddha and said, “I have so many questions to ask, can you give answer?”

Buddha listened to him and said, “Do you really want answer? If you really want, can you pay the price?”

Philosopher said, “I am ready.”

Buddha said, “Sit in silence for 2 years.”

Philosopher was stunned, but agreed to do so.

He sat under a tree. Suddenly, a man who sat beside, started laughing.

Philosopher asked him the reason for this laugh.

He said, “I also came like you and Buddha told me same. After 2 years, Buddha came to ask if I have any question left to ask. But everything erased in that silence.”

Philosopher was stunned, but adamant to be in silence for 2 years.

After 2 years when Buddha came to him.

He said, “I have no question.”

Our questions are just like the itchings of mind. If we get answer of one question, second question will arise.

This endless question and answer loop will never quench our thirst. Enter in silence, this is the beauty.

Edit 1. I agree, a man must explores. Entering in silence is the last step for attaining profound tranquility which Buddha talked about.

Now, it depends on you, first you want to explore and then enter into silence, or directly enter into silence.
