What are some good stories from the epic Mahabharata that should be known by everyone but aren't much famous?

1.

Dronacharya can be considered as India's first test tube baby. This story is also quite interesting. Dronacharya's father was Maharishi Bhardwaj and his mother was an Apsara. Actually, one evening when Bhardwaj went to take bath in Ganga, he saw an Apsara bathing there.

Seeing her beauty, the sage was mesmerized and sperm came out from her body, which the sage collected in an earthen pot and kept in the dark. From this Dronacharya was born.

When Pandavas' father Pandu was about to die, he asked his sons to eat his brain to become wise and gain knowledge.

Only Sahadev fulfilled his wish and ate his brain. On eating for the first time, he got information about the things that have happened in the world.

On eating it for the second time, he learned about the things happening in the present and on eating it for the third time, he got information about what is going to happen in the future.

The stories of friendship between Karna and Duryodhana are quite famous. Karna and Duryodhana's wife were once playing chess.

Karna was winning in this game when Bhanumati saw Duryodhana coming and tried to stand up.

Karna did not know about Duryodhana's arrival. Therefore, as soon as Bhanumati tried to get up, Karna tried to catch her.Instead of Bhanumati, her pearl necklace came into his hand and it broke. Duryodhana had come into the room by then.

Seeing Duryodhana, both Bhanumati and Karna got scared that Duryodhana might suspect something wrong. But Duryodhana had great faith in Karna. He just said to pick up the pearls.

Abhimanyu's wife Vatsala was the daughter of Balram. Balram wanted Vatsala to marry Duryodhana's son Lakshman.

Vatsala and Abhimanyu loved each other. Abhimanyu takes help of Ghatotkacha to get Vatsala. Ghatotkacha frightened Lakshman so much that he swore that he would not marry for the rest of his life.

5.

Arjun's son Iravan sacrificed himself for his father's victory. His last wish before sacrificing himself was to get married before dying.

But no girl was ready for this marriage because her husband was to die soon after the marriage.

In this situation, Lord Krishna took the form of Mohini and not only married Iravan but also cried like a wife while bidding farewell to him.
