MIDWEEK INSPIRATION

The Great Distance

by Kevin Eikenberry

taking actionSome of the best quotations are sayings repeated in a culture until they are recognized by everyone. Today’s quotation is one of those. It is right there in the image . . .

Questions to Ponder

- What am I talking about, but not acting on?
- What is the most productive thing I could do right now?
- What have I talked about doing for a long time, yet never taken an action towards?

Action Steps

1. Look at your goals and objectives.
2. Determine a step you could take.
3. Shut up.
4. Take that action – even if it is a small one.
5. Do. Something. Now.

My Thoughts

All of us procrastinate. That is a fact, not an excuse. Today’s quotation applies to even the most productive and proactive people.

As you look at your life, your talk, and your actions, the purpose of this post is to slowly begin moving said and done closer together. Talk less, and act more.  Back up your words (and intentions) with actions more often.

Doing this will raise your self confidence and competence in whatever you are acting on.

Doing this will bring you greater productivity and results.

Doing this, as a leader, will bring you even more benefit, because people aren’t really paying attention to your words anyway – they are watching your actions.  Narrowing the gap between “said” and “done” will allow you to get more done, and it will also raise the trust level of those you lead.

Talk less and act more.

Do this every day, and watch your results and your life change.
