STORY WITH MORAL......89

The story is told of a woman who bought a parrot to keep her company, but she returned it the next day.

"This bird doesn't talk," she told the owner. "Does he have a mirror in his cage?" he asked.
"Parrots love mirrors. They see their reflection and start a conversation."
The woman bought a mirror and left.
The next day she returned; the bird still wasn't talking.
"How about a ladder? Parrots love ladders.
The happy parrot is a talkative parrot." The woman bought a ladder and left.
But the next day, she was back. "Does your parrot have a swing?
No? Well, that's the problem.
Once he starts swinging, he'll talk up a storm."
The woman reluctantly bought a swing and left.
When she walked into the store the next day, her countenance had changed.
"The parrot died," she said. The pet store owner was shocked.
"I'm so sorry. Tell me, did he ever say anything?" he asked.

"Yes, right before he died," the woman replied.
"In a weak voice, he asked me, 'Don't they sell any food at that pet store?'"

Sometimes we forget what's really important in life.
We get so caught up in things that are good while neglecting the things that are truly necessary.
We've got to provide the family with a nice house.
And of course, we've got to have at least two cars.
And to make everybody truly happy, we need the latest smart phone.

But, if we're not careful, we'll make the mistake of thinking those (and many other such "things")
are the things that bring us satisfaction and meaning.

இப்பயிற்சியினை மனோதத்துவ வல்லுனர்கள், புகழ் பெற்ற கல்வி ஆலோசகர்கள் நடத்தினார்கள். தமிழ்நாடு முழுவதுமிருந்து 500க்கும் மேற்பட்ட மனவளக்கலை பேராசிரியர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டு பயன்பெற்றனர்.

" .அம்மா...எங்களுக்கு மிகவும் பயனுள்ள ஆன்மீக அடிப்படை விஷயங்களை மிகவும் எளிதாக விளக்கினீர்கள்!  இங்குள்ள அனைத்து மாணவிகளின் சார்பில் நன்றியினைத் தெரிவிக்கின்றேன். இன்றைய சூழ்நிலையில் எங்களுக்கு உள்ள பயத்தினையும், மன அழுத்தத்தினையும், கவலைகளையும் போக்க வழி காட்டி உதவ வேண்டும் " என்கிறாள் .ஒரு மாணவி. 

"  என் இனிய  மாணவச் செல்வங்களே! உங்களைப்  பயமுறுத்தும், மன அழுத்தம் கொடுக்கும் பிரச்சனைகளைச் சொல்லுங்கள்" என்கிறார்கள் அம்மா.

* பாடங்கள் புரியாமல்  மனப்பாடம் செய்தே பரீட்சை எழுதுகின்றோம். அப்படி மனப்பாடம் செய்தது சீக்கிரமே மறந்து விடுகிறது.

* அப்படியே பாடங்களைப்  புரிந்து படித்து நிறைய மதிப்பெண்கள் வாங்கினாலும் நாங்கள் விரும்பும் கல்வி/கல்லூரி கிடைப்பதில்லை. எதிர்காலத்தில் நல்ல வேலை கிடைக்குமா என்ற பயம் இப்போதே இருக்கின்றது.

* நேரத்தை வீணடிக்கின்றோம் என்று   தெரிந்தே  டிவி, இன்டர்நெட், பேஸ்புக், செல்போன் என அவைகளில் ஆர்வம் கொண்டுள்ளோம்.

* எங்களின் பருவ  வயதில் ஏற்படும்  புது,புது உணர்வுகள் - அவைகளைத் தூண்டிவிடும் சினிமா, டிவி, பாடல்கள் இவற்றில் ஈடுபாடு 

* பெற்றோர்கள் இருவரும் வேலைக்கு செல்வதால் அவர்கள்  எங்களுக்கு போதிய நேரம் ஒதுக்குவதில்ல 

* பெற்றோர்களிடையே  அடிக்கடி சண்டை

* சக மாணவர்களின் வேண்டாத பழக்கங்கள் 

* தன் தோற்றம் பற்றிய தாழ்வு மனப்பான்மை 

* இப்பருவத்தில் தோன்றும் காதல் உணர்வுகள் - இதனால் ஏற்படும் தோல்விகள், பிரச்சனைகள் 

* மாணவிகளுக்கு ஏற்படும் பாலியல் தொந்தரவுகள் 

* பெற்றோர்கள், ஆசிரியர்களின் அதிகமான கண்டிப்பு

VOYAGER

Launch

Voyager 2 launched on August 20, 1977, from Cape Canaveral, Florida aboard a Titan-Centaur rocket. On September 5, Voyager 1 launched, also from Cape Canaveral aboard a Titan-Centaur rocket.

Planetary Tour
Between them, Voyager 1 and 2 explored all the giant planets of our outer solar system, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune; 48 of their moons; and the unique system of rings and magnetic fields those planets possess.

Closest approach to Jupiter occurred on March 5, 1979 for Voyager 1; July 9, 1979 for Voyager 2.

Closest approach to Saturn occurred on November 12, 1980 for Voyager 1; August 25, 1981 for Voyager 2.

Closest approach to Uranus occurred on January 24, 1986 by Voyager 2.

Closest approach to Neptune occurred on August 25, 1989 by Voyager 2.
Most Distant Spacecraft
The Voyager spacecraft will be the third and fourth human spacecraft to fly beyond all the planets in our solar system. Pioneers 10 and 11 preceded Voyager in outstripping the gravitational attraction of the Sun but on February 17, 1998, Voyager 1 passed Pioneer 10 to become the most distant human-made object in space.

The Golden Record
Both Voyager spacecrafts carry a greeting to any form of life, should that be encountered. The message is carried by a phonograph record - -a 12-inch gold-plated copper disk containing sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth. The contents of the record were selected for NASA by a committee chaired by Carl Sagan of Cornell University. Dr. Sagan and his associates assembled 115 images and a variety of natural sounds. To this they added musical selections from different cultures and eras, and spoken greetings from Earth-people in fifty-five languages.

Present Status
As of September 2013, Voyager 1 was at a distance of 18.7 billion kilometers (125.3 AU) from the Sun.

Voyager 2 was at a distance of 15.3 billion kilometers (102.6 AU).

Voyager 1 is escaping the solar system at a speed of about 3.6 AU per year.
Voyager 2 is escaping the solar system at a speed of about 3.3 AU per year.

There are currently five science investigation teams participating in the Interstellar Mission. They are:

1. Magnetic field investigation
2. Low energy charged particle investigation
3. Cosmic ray investigation
4. Plasma Investigation (Voyager 2 only)
5. Plasma wave investigation

Five instruments onboard the Voyagers directly support the five science investigations. The five instruments are:

1. Magnetic field instrument (MAG)
2. Low energy charged particle instrument (LECP)
3. Cosmic ray instrument (CRS)
4. Plasma instrument (PLS)
5. Plasma wave instrument (PWS)

One other instrument is collecting data but does not have official science investigation associated with it:

6. Ultraviolet spectrometer subsystem (UVS), Voyager 1 only

Termination Shock
Voyager 1 crossed the termination shock in December 2004 at about 94 AU from the Sun while Voyager 2 crossed it in August 2007 at about 84 AU. Both spacecraft are now exploring the Heliosheath.

The Heliopause
While the exact location of the Heliopause is not known, it has been estimated that Voyager could reach this entry into interstellar space 10 years after crossing the Termination Shock. (Voyager 1 entered interstellar space on August 25, 2012.)

SUCCESS vs EXCELLENCE

Difference between success and excellence

Success is often measured by comparison to others. Excellence, on the other hand, is all about being the best we can be and maximising our gifts, talents and abilities to perform at our highest potential.

We live in a world that loves to focus on success and loves to compare. We are all guilty of doing this. However, to be our best we must focus more on excellence and less on success. We must focus on being the best we can be and realise that our greatest competition is not someone else but ourselves.

Golfing legend Jack Nicklaus would simply focus on playing the best he could play against the course he was playing. While others were competing against Jack, he was competing against the course and himself.

The same can be said for Apple’s approach with the iPod, iPhone and iPad. When they created these products they didn’t focus on the competition. Instead they focused on creating the best product they could create. As a result, rather than measuring themselves against others they have become the measuring stick.

We have a choice as individuals, organisations and teams. We can focus on success and spend our life looking around to see how our competition is doing, or we can look straight ahead towards the vision of greatness we have for ourselves and our teams.

We can look at competition as the standard or as an indicator of our progress towards our own standards. We can chase success or we can embark on a quest for excellence and focus 100% of our energy to become our best... and let success find us.

Ironically, when our goal is excellence the outcome and by product is often success.

annoying telephone calls because of the error we made in the
classified ad yesterday. The ad stands correct as follows: "For
sale -- R. D. Jones has one sewing machine for sale. Cheap. Phone 948-0707 after 7 P.M. and ask for Mrs. Kelly who loves with him."

THURSDAY:

Notice: I, R. D. Jones, have no sewing machine for sale. I
intentionally broke it. Don't call 948-0707 as I have had the
phone disconnected. I have not been carrying on with Mrs. Kelly. Until yesterday she was my housekeeper, but she has now quit.

பொய்மை, இரட்டுற  மொழி தல், நயவஞ்சனை,

நடிப்பு இவற்றால் பொருளீட்டிப் பிழைத்தல் நாய்ப் 

பிழைப்பென்று கொள்வேன்.

இடையறாது தொழில் புரிந்து இவ்வுலக பெருமைகள் 

பெற முயல்வேன். இல்லாவிடில் விதிவசமென்று 

மகிழ்ச்சியோடு இருப்பேன்.

எப்போதும் மலர்ந்த முகம், இனிய சொல்,

THE LAST LECTURE

 

Dr. Randy Pausch died of pancreatic cancer in 2008, but wrote a book 'The last lecture" before then, one of the bestsellers in 2007. What a legacy to leave behind…

In a letter to his wife Jai and his children, Dylan, Logan , and Chloe, he wrote this beautiful "guide to a better life" for his wife and children to follow.
May you be blessed by his insight.

1. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
2. Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment
3. Don't over do; keep your limits
4. Don't take yourself so seriously; no one else does
5. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip
6. Dream more while you are awake
7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
8. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner of his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
10. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present
11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you
12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.  Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

A camp with their mothers-in-law

A group of young women decided to arrange for a camp with their mothers-in-law to hopefully get to know and understand each other better.

Two buses were hired, one for the mothers -in-law and the other for the daughters-in- law.

Unfortunately the bus with the mothers-in-law was involved in an accident and all the passengers died on the spot.

The daughters in law (women being women) shed a few tears but they were all puzzled by one sister who wailed uncontrollably for what they perceived to be her loss.

Her friend asked her, “Forgive me for asking but why are you crying so hard, I didn’t realize u were so close to your mother-in-law?”

To which she replied, “No we are not close at all, she missed the bus!”

 'காதலர் தின ஸ்பெஷல்'

தமிழ் சினிமாவும் காதலும் என்பது ரெண்டு இட்லி ஒரு வடை காம்பினேஷனைப் போல அருமையானது, அழகானது மற்றும் அற்புதமானது. காதல் 1980களுக்கு முன் வந்த படங்களில் பழைய சோறு போலவும், 1980களில் வந்த படங்களில் புளி சோறு போலவும், 2000க்கு மேல் வந்த படங்களில் பருப்புச்சோறு போலவும், இப்ப வரும் படங்களில் பீட்சா, பர்கர் போலவும் இருக்கலாம்.

ஆனால், 1990 - 2000க்குள் வந்த படங்களில்தான் காதல் டபுள் லெக் பீஸ் வச்ச சிக்கன் பிரியாணியைப் போல கமகமத்தது. வரலாற்றில் குப்தர்களின் ஆட்சி பொற்காலம் என்பது போல, தமிழ் சினிமாவில் இந்த காலகட்டம்தான் காதலின் பொற்காலம்!

காதல் தேசம், காதல் மன்னன், காதல் ரோஜாவே, காதல் கவிதை, காதல் வேதம், காதல் சாம்ராஜ்யம், காதல் செருப்பு, காதல் ஜட்டி, காதல் சொம்பு, காதல் சாம்பார், காதல் வௌக்குமாறு, காதல் குரூட் ஆயில், காதல் பாத்ரூம் ஆசிட், காதல் வாந்தி, காதல் காராபூந்தி என காதலுக்குப் பின்னால் ஏதாவது ஒரு வார்த்தையைப் போட்டு வரிசையாக காதல் படங்கள் வந்த அற்புதமான கால கட்டம் அது.

டி.ராஜேந்தர், கதிர், விக்ரமன் போன்ற ஆல்டைம் இளமை ஊஞ்சலாடும் இயக்குனர்கள் கூட கடைசி வரை சொல்லாத காதல், காதலியின் காதலை சேர்த்து வைக்கும் காதல், காதலுக்குள் நட்பு, நட்புக்குள் காதல் என ரூம் போட்டு யோசித்து பலப்பல வகைகளில் காதலைக் காட்டினார்கள்.

வயதான ஆணை இளம்பெண் காதலிக்கும் காதல் படம் ஊருக்குள் இருக்கும் திரையரங்குகளிலும், வயதான ஆன்ட்டியை இளம் வாலிபன் காதலிக்கும் படம் ஊருக்கு ஒதுக்குப்புறமாய் இருக்கும் திரையரங்குகளிலும் சக்கை போடு போட்டது இந்த அருமையான காலகட்டத்தில்தான். காதல் பாடல் காட்சிகளில் யூனிஃபார்ம் அணிந்த குரூப் டான்சர்கள் முதல், எங்கிருந்து வருகிறார்கள் என இதுவரை ஆன்சர் கிடைக்காத வெள்ளை கவுன் தேவதைகள் வரை காட்டியது தமிழ் சினிமா. யூனிபார்ம் போட்ட பள்ளி மாணவ மாணவிகளே காதலிப்பதாய் பல நூறு படங்களை இறக்கி முறுக்கியது இந்த வருடங்களில்தான். 

அதுவரை இரு கோணம், முக்கோணக் காதல் கதைகளைச் சொல்லி தட்டுத் தடுமாறி வந்த தமிழ் சினிமா... காதல்களில் நாற்கோணம், ஐந்து கோணம், ஆறு கோணம், அரக்கோணம், தலக்கோணம், கும்பகோணம் என பற்பல காதல் கோணங்களையும் காட்டி, சனியனை சடை பின்னி அழகுப் போட்டிக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தது இந்த அருமையான வருஷங்களில்தான்.

அடுத்தவன் பொண்ணை காதலித்துக்கொண்டிருந்த தமிழ் சினிமாவில் அடுத்தவன் பொண்டாட்டியை காதலிக்கக் கற்றுக்கொடுத்த சினிமாக்கள் வலம் வந்த வளமான வருடங்கள் இவை. ஒரு மெண்டல் பெண்ணை காதலித்து கடைசியில் காதலன் மெண்டல் ஆன கதைகள், ஒரு மெண்டல் ஒரு பெண்ணை காதலித்து அவளை மெண்டலாக்கிய கதைகள், மெண்டலும் மெண்டலும் காதலித்து மெண்டலான கதைகள் என எக்கச்சக்க காதல் படங்கள் வந்து, பார்க்கும் பார்வையாளர்களையும் மெண்டலாக்கின.

தமிழர்கள் கட்டும் கைலிகளில் இருக்கும் வகைகளை விட, தமிழ்ப் படங்களில் காட்டப்பட்ட கல்லூரிக் காதல்கள் அதிகம். தொண்ணூறுகளின் ஆரம்பத்தில் காலேஜ் போக ஆரம்பித்த முரளி சார், சின்னி ஜெயந்த், சார்லி, தாமு போன்ற மாணவர்கள் அந்த பீமீநீணீபீமீன்  கடைசி வரை காலேஜ் போய் காதலித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தனர். அஜித், விஜய், பிரசாந்த் போன்ற புது மாணவர்கள் காதலிக்க வந்த பின், முரளி, பிரபு, கார்த்திக் போன்ற மாணவர்கள் இரண்டாம் ஆண்டுக்கு பாசாகி வந்தாலும், சின்னி ஜெயந்தும் சார்லியும் கடைசி வரை முதலாண்டு படிப்பே படித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

தொண்ணூறுகளின்   மத்தியில், தமிழ் சினிமா ஒரு பூகம்பத்தைக் கண்டது. அதுவரை, காதலுக்காக காதலையோ காதலியையோ தியாகம் செய்து வந்த தமிழ் சினிமா ஹீரோக்கள் தங்கள் காதலுக்காக தங்கள் உடல் உறுப்புகளைத் தியாகம் செய்ய ஆரம்பித்தார்கள். லிவிங்ஸ்டன் நாக்கை தியாகம் செய்து ஆரம்பித்த டிரண்டை விஜய் கிட்னி தியாகம் செய்து உச்சத்துக்குக் கொண்டு சென்றார். அதன் பின் கண், மூக்கு, காது, இதயம் என ஆரம்பித்து கடைசியில் கல்லீரல், நுரையீரல் என உடம்பில் இருக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு ஸ்பேர் பார்ட்ஸையும் தானம் செய்ய வைத்து உடல் தான விழிப்புணர்வை ஊட்டியது தமிழ் சினிமா.

காதலில் இத்தனை ரசங்களை காட்டிய இயக்குனர்கள், காதல் செய்வதைப் பற்றி கிளாஸ் எடுக்காம சும்மாவா விடுவாங்க? காதலியின் தொப்புளில் பம்பரம் விட்டு ஆட்டத்தை கேப்டன் ஆரம்பிக்க, அடுத்து வந்த பேட்ஸ்மேன்கள் தொப்புளில் ஆம்லெட் போடுவது, அக்குளில் ஆபாயில் போடுவது, முதுகில் முறுக்கு சுடுவது, இடுப்பில் எண்ணெய் தடவுவது எனப் பல வகைகளில் காதல் செய்வது பற்றி பல்கலைக்கழகமே நடத்தியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

தொப்புளில் படகுப் போட்டி, ஒட்டக ஓட்டப் பந்தயம், உலகக்கோப்பை கிரிக்கெட், மாடு மேய்க்கும் சீனெல்லாம் சில இயக்குனர்கள் யோசித்து வைத்திருந்ததாகவும், பட்ஜெட் காரணமாக அந்த மக்கள் திட்டங்கள் கைவிடப்பட்டதாகவும் வரலாற்றுச் செய்திகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.

 ஷங்கர், ராஜமௌலி போன்ற பிரமாண்ட இயக்குனர்கள் நினைத்தால், தொப்புளில் சுனாமி கூட கொண்டு வரலாம்.தாலின்னா என்னன்னு தெரியாது, கல்யாணம்னா என்னன்னு தெரியாது, ஆனா காதல் மட்டும் நல்லாவே செய்யத் தெரியும் எனப் பல சின்னத்தம்பிகள் சில்மிஷ தம்பிகளாக மாறிய படங்கள் பல பொங் கலுக்கு ஓடின. காதலிக்கும் தன் பெண்ணையோ, பேத்தியையோ, தங்கச்சியையோ எப்படியெல்லாம் துன்புறுத்தி கொடுமைப்படுத்தலாம் என பலப்பல ஐடியா செய்து வில்லன்கள் மொத்த வித்தையையும் இறக்கியது இந்த 90களில்தான்.

இப்படியாக காதலை வளர்த்த, காதலுக்காக வளர்ந்த தமிழ் சினிமாவின் பொற்காலம் மீண்டும் தமிழ் சினிமாவில் வரவேண்டுமென இந்த ‘காதலர் தின ஸ்பெஷலில்’ குட்டிச்சுவர் கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறது. காதல் வாழ்க, கள்ளக்காதல் வாழ்க, எல்லா காதலர்களும் வாழ்க வாழ்க!

 It was exam season and four students gave a false excuse that they couldnt study for the exam because last night they went to a party and on the way back home the car got punctured and they pushed it all the way home. The prinicipal who knew about them very well told them to come and write the exam the next day.

So the next day they came and was asked to sit seperately. The question paper was set for them for 100 marks.
