People may receive a lot of praise, but they rarely forget negative criticism. Even a positive and constructive criticism is normally misunderstood due to fear and worry. Most of the time organizational environment is full of criticism. Partners in relationship criticize each other every now and then. Most attach a negative connotation to criticism because they feel it is something destructive, negative, and a let down in their social standing. Some are in the habit of criticizing on one pretext or other whole day. These individuals have unstable emotional levels and never bother to look at their own mind-set. Most people react to criticism as it is generally identified with blame, fallen below expectations, and humiliations. ‘Tit for tat’ is used by most while handling a negative criticism to satisfy their ego. However, from the long term perspective it is best to collaborate.
Criticism is an emotion used for motivating /De-motivating or even an out come of jealousy. Some take criticism in the positive stride while others may develop negative emotions. It varies from individual to individual and depends on their emotional state of mind. The normal process of evaluating and criticizing job performance some times becomes minefield. It is common to witness superiors criticizing and reprimanding juniors if the performance is below expectations. For instance "How could you make such a stupid mistake, what were you thinking?” The superior here feels let down. He may be using it as a stick to motivate the employee to work harder. But it makes employee critical of the superior and ends up hurting him. Criticism needs to be followed with suggestions for improvement.

Criticism acts as a tool for development and motivates for change both within and out side .Comments received with a positive frame of mind make us creative, and constructive. Change in mind-set leads to a positive affect in changing the personal behavior, social skills, and performance.
The most effective strategy for handling valid criticism is to agree with it .Criticism with ulterior motives needs to be ignored. It is important to assess the emotional state of the critic. Some times people in an angry state of mind let off their steam. Criticism with such a state of mind needs to be taken easy.
