ELECTRIC BULB

The gas inside an electric bulb is usually argon, a noble gas that prevents the tungsten filament from burning out too quickly. Other gases, such as helium, neon, nitrogen, and krypton, can also be used for different types of bulbs.

In electric bulb the filament is usually made of tungsten, a metal that has a high melting point and can withstand high temperatures. The filament is enclosed in a glass cover, called a bulb, that protects it from air and moisture.

If the bulb was filled with air, the oxygen in the air would react with the tungsten and cause it to oxidize and deteriorate rapidly. This would shorten the lifespan of the bulb and make it dimmer. To prevent this, the bulb is filled with an inert gas that does not react with the tungsten or interfere with the light production.

The most common gas used for this purpose is argon, which is one of the noble gases that have very low reactivity and high stability. Argon helps to extend the life of the bulb by preventing the tungsten filament from evaporating too quickly. Argon also has a low thermal conductivity, which means it does not transfer heat easily. This helps to keep the bulb cool and reduce energy loss.
