Keep eating rajasik foods to your heart’s content. Honestly, it’s not that big a deal, especially for a beginner in Sanatana Dharma. It won’t undo the benefits of Sadhana. It will reduce/dampen some of the benefits somewhat, but it won’t defeat the purpose. The vast majority of Sanatanis eat lots of rajasik foods. In fact, just being vegetarian puts you well ahead of the curve. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Focus on the parts of Sanatana Dharma that appeal to you. Just don’t eat a lot of garlic or onions on the day of a temple visit (and by “a lot of”, I mean what probably seems to you like “almost any”).
Later, as you become more established in your practice, you can try reducing rajasik foods and being attentive to the subtle effects that you notice within yourself. Then you may find you want to reduce them because you actually experience the difference, rather than just because someone told you to. Sanatana Dharma should be based on one’s actual experience rather than arbitrarily following dogmatic authorities.
