You are precious metal, gold. When gold is broken, melted, or mixed with other metal chunks, its value is never lost. If you have gone through trials, terrible company, or bad habits, your worth does not reduce; a gold will always stay gold, and all impurities will be sorted and melted out to extract the pure gold, when your soul is melted in the transforming process, which is painful but worthwhile.
