STATES OF MATTER IN QUANTUM MECHANICS

Normally quantum mechanics deals with the study of energy related to extremely small particle like electrons. If Quantum mechanics applied to the macroscopic particles (normally weight more than the weight of alpha particle) it will not give compatible result. We use classical mechanics to study the macroscopic particle and bulk matter like, flow or kinetics of fluid and solids

99% of the properties of any material is based on the behavior of electrons in the materials. Its Physical appearance, chemical activity, magnetic and electric properties, dielectric properties all are based on the electronic behavior, which can be studied by using Quantum mechanics.

The particles like electrons behave like standing waves, when they are in motion. These waves are de-Broglie matter waves. This is beginning of Quantum mechanics.

we set up an wave equation for the de-Broglie waves called wave function. Then we set up Schrodinger wave equation for the study the energy of the particle in the form of waves.
