FORENSIC SCIENCE

Forensic science actually started because of fingerprints.

Back in the day, they didn't have DNA tests or fancy machines, so they had to rely on those unique patterns on your fingers to identify criminals.

And they were pretty strict about it too. If you couldn't keep up with the scientific standards, you could lose your certification as a forensic expert.

Speaking of fingerprints, did you know that they can change over time?

Some drugs or chemicals can alter your fingerprints and make them harder to match.

For example, some chemotherapy drugs can cause your fingerprints to disappear or become distorted.

Insects can help solve crimes?

Bugs are actually super useful for forensic science. They can tell you when someone died, where they died, and even what they ate before they died.

How? Well, different insects have different life cycles and preferences, so by studying the bugs on a corpse, you can figure out a lot of clues.

Forensic science can be used for more than just crimes.

Yeah, it's not all about murder and rape and drug trafficking. Forensic science can also help with civil matters, like paternity tests, fraud cases, environmental issues, and even human rights violations.
