Many women prostrate on hands and knees while men lie flat. Why do Indian women should not bow down?
According to the scriptures, a woman's breasts and her womb should never touch the ground.
This is because her womb preserves a life and her breasts nourish that life.
Therefore women cannot do the salutation like men. Really, many women in India don't know this.
In a Civilized Society : Motherhood should not be lowered at all at any cost
(1)The Breasts which feed Breast milk to a Child should Not be Lowered down to the ground Level
(2) The Lower Abdomen (Uterus) which carries and nurtures the Child for 280 days should not be Lowered down to the ground Level
(3) The human body part through which a child enters into this World (Earth) should not be Lowered down to the ground Level
Does it vary by tradition or is it a personal choice?
This is the right way to worship God. Have you ever seen that many people lie down in front of the idol and bow their heads. Yes, this is called prostration.
According to the scriptures, it is believed that in this pranaam, every part of the person touches the ground.
Which is believed to mean that the person has left his ego. Through this asana you tell God that you are calling him for help.
This asana takes you to the refuge of God. But have you ever noticed why women do not do this salutation? This has been mentioned in the scriptures.
