8 LIMBS OF YOGA

In Hatha Yoga, the seventh limb is meditation (Dhyana). There is a reason it is ranked seventh; in order to enter the dhayana (meditation) stage, one must follow all the limbs from the yamas to Dharana (Concentration). In order to be ready for meditation, this helps the body, mind, and soul.

As you must be practicing meditation while seated, making a strong effort to raise your spine and adopt a sitting position say in padmasana, if you are not a regular practitioner of yoga and your hip and pelvic floor joints are not open enough to hold the position for that long, it will create issues like legs tingling, twitching, numbness of legs, oscillations or lightheaded ness due to wrong technique or holding of breaths or muscular sensations etc.

Remember, if the asana posture is correct, it never creates issues. That’s why we call “ Sthiram Sukham Asana”. For this very reason, yogis prepares for years to do proper Yogasanas (Postures), to prepare the body for Dhyana and Samadhi. As you are feeling sensations, it might means you need to practice the seventh limb after at least 3-6 other limbs. Get your BP, Haemoglobin and Vitamin levels checked.

Many may attribute this to Kundalini energy, but it’s actually not. Howsoever, you are better to know, if your kundalini is awakened, you will know this for sure, as it happens only through Divine’s grace and they will answer surely tell and clears your doubts in the divine way. Kundalini is actually an electromagnetic lightning force and it can happen anytime, anyplace to someone who is prepared at body, mind and soul levels. Yoga is just one way to activate this but it requires proper sadhana of all the 8 limbs of yoga.
