BHUTAN

Bhutan officially the Kingdom of Bhutan is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is situated in the Eastern Himalayas, between China in the north and India .

Rugged mountains dominate the terrain and make the building of roads and other infrastructure difficult. Bhutan is among the richest by gross domestic product (nominal) per capita in South Asia, at $3,491 as of 2022, but it still places 153rd, and among the poorest in the world.

To many travellers, Bhutan is known as the happiest place on earth, thanks to its unique development philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH). Instead of just measuring economic output, Bhutan's focus on the citizen's well-being and 'happiness' is extremely holistic.

Bhutan is important to India as a buffer state as it act as a defence against China by protecting the chicken neck. It is so important for India to protect the North Eastern states that it has done things which no other nation does.

Indian nationals visiting Bhutan do not require visa. However, they will be issued an entry permit.
