Gravity. Gravity dominates the universe because of two reasons:
- It is an inverse square-law. Unlike the nuclear forces (both strong and weak) this distance dependence gives it an ability to affect objects that are very far away.
- It has only one sign of the charge. All rest masses are positive. That means that the effect gets larger when we consider more matter. This is unlike the electromagnetic force. The EM force also has an inverse square law, but the effects of protons tend to cancel the effect of electrons, so for large objects the EM force tends to be very small (compared to gravity).
