THE EARTH's CORE

The Earth's core is as hot as the surface of the Sun. It is composed of molten metals and is at temperatures of around 6,000°C (that of the surface of the Sun is 5,500°C)

That is, the interior of our planet earth is hotter than the surface of our dear star.

It has a radius of about 3500 km, larger than the planet Mars and represents 30% of the total mass of the Earth. The pressure inside it is millions of times the pressure present on the surface. It consists of a liquid outer core made up of iron and nickel and a solid inner core made almost exclusively of iron.

The Earth's core, like the mantle, cannot be reached through drilling and the current knowledge of its composition derives from studies in geophysics, as well as petrography and astronomy.
