The Mahabharata states that about 80% of the manpower died on the eighteenth day of the war. At the end of the war, Sanjaya came to the place where the war took place i.e. in the plains of Kurukshetra.
There was a doubt in his mind that this war had really happened? Is there really such a big massacre? Is this the place where the mighty Pandavas and Lord Krishna stood?
Is this the place where Shrimad Bhagwad Gita was recited? Did all this really happen or am I confused??
"You'll never know the truth!!" a quiet elderly voice caught her ear. Sanjay looked in the direction of the voice and saw a monk there.
"I know you have come here to see if there really was a battle of Kurukshetra," the monk replied in a soft tone. But you won't know the truth about this war until you know what the real war was like. "
Sanjay said, "So??"
Sadhu said, "Mahabharata is an epic -
A reality but more than that it is a philosophy. "And saying that, he laughed. Seeing the sadhu's smile, Sanjay was even more fascinated and pleaded, "Can you tell me that philosophy?"
The sadhus began to explain that philosophy, Pandavas are nothing but our 5 senses.
eyes (vision),
ears (sound),
nose (smell),
tongue (taste) and
Skin (touch)
And there are Kauravas 100 vikaras (substances) that attack these 5 Pandavas every day. But we can save our 5 Pandavas from this attack. "Sanjay, when will it be possible to protect them from what you can say?" the sadhu said.
"When lord Krishna will be the charioteer of our chariot - the friend of these 5 Pandavas????". The monk replied very happy. He said, "Absolutely!! Shri Krishna is our inner voice, our soul, our guiding light. If we are listening to Sri Krishna, we have nothing to worry about. "
Sanjay understood a lot of meaning now. But he then asked, "So the Kauravas were evil, so what is the point of Guru Dronacharya and Pitamah Bhishma fighting in their favour??"
"This means that as you get older, your perception of older people changes.
When you are younger, you think they are perfect, but as you get older, you start seeing flaws in them and one day you have to make a decision.
It is important whether we listen to these elders or not, they decide for us or we decide for ourselves!!! So in such a crisis of religion, the teachings of Shrimad Bhagavad Gita become important. "
Sanjay knew everything now. "Then why is Karna against the Pandavas?" he asked the last question.
"Oh ha!! Karna is ours like 5 senses. He is part of us but supports those 100 faults!! This Karna is nothing but our own desires.
These are ours but they are friends of 100 disorders. Repentance-like karna is happening and keeps giving reasons as to why he is supporting disorders. Such is our lust – repentance and go back there!!"
Tears are coming from Sanjay's eyes. He truly understood the world's greatest epic "Mahabharata". He stands looking at Kurukshetra at a distance.
He turns back to bow to the monk and sees that there is no one there – the monk disappears but leaves behind an intense vision.
