Be amazed by this magnificent image captured in infrared by the Very Large Telescope with a diameter of 8.2 meters. The protagonist is the inner ring that surrounds the center of NGC 1097. This galaxy is located 45 million light-years from Earth, in the constellation of Fornax.
The dark areas are gas and debris being channeled into the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy.
